Recently, the World Economic Forum has released the latest index, which is the Tourism & Travel Development Index (TTDI) 2024, which is released Biennially, and Indonesia became one of the countries on the list. After having gradually increased year by year, surprisingly, this year, Indonesia showed a positif trend which was jumping from 44 to 22. the TTDI indicators not only focus on the destinations but also the readiness of the tourism resources and infrastructures within hosting tourists. In the ASEAN Cluster, Indonesia showed an excellent improvement. This year, Indonesia is able on the second position after Singapore, which is in the wolrd 13th ranking. However, many problems in Indonesia’s tourism sector have arisen lately. Tourism infrastructure and transportation safety, tourist behavior, immigration issues, conflict between host and tourists, and other social issues related to tourism. There is a need to discuss these phenomena critically and generate a conclusion on whether this ranking is true or only statistical data for administration purposes.
