https://link.doctrineuk.org/peopleorganization Abstract Institutional theory in organisation studies has been developing from a theory focusing on how institutions guide individual and organisational behaviour into a theory explaining human actors’ purposive actions in shaping institutions. Institutional work helped us to understand how these actors work to bring about changes in their context, regardless of the size of the context, and how these actors cope with the paradox of embedded agency. Through my research, I would like to show the ‘real-life’ and ‘messy’ purposive efforts of organisational actors in introducing knowledge management practice within a (big) public sector organisation. In this session, I would also share my wisdom in pursuing my PhD degree. It might be insightful for the early years of PhD students, especially for those practitioners who move from the empirical world to the academic world.
